Norfolk residents warned of potential further flooding and travel disruption as Met Office issues yellow weather alert for rain
Residents in Norfolk are being warned that they could experience further flooding and travel disruption today.
That’s because the Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain in the county, which is in place between midday today and 3am tomorrow.
The alert covers the whole of Norfolk and much of the rest of the east and south of England.
The Met Office said: “A spell of rain is expected to move northeast across southern and eastern parts of England on Thursday, clearing during Thursday night.
“The track of the heaviest rainfall remains a little uncertain, but 10-20 mm is likely to fall within six hours across much of the warning area, with some places seeing 30-40 mm; these higher accumulations are more likely across central southern England.
“Impacts are more likely due to the current very wet ground across the region.”
The warning goes on to say that strong winds may also accompany the heavy rain this evening and overnight – particularly in southeast England.
Residents are being advised to check if their properties could be at risk of flooding, and if so, consider preparing a flood plan and an emergency flood kit.
Additionally, checking road conditions if driving, or bus and train timetables could help avoid delays.
