Perhaps not Sherwood Forest, but The Walks in Lynn will next month play host to a family fun event with Robin Hood the Musical taking centre stage.

This open air family theatre makes its bow on Tuesday, July 28, with a scheduled start time at 2.30pm.

Voted one of the top 10 events to do in the summer by The Guardian, the storyline will be faithful to its origins but decorated sufficiently to keep a young audience fully involved, making it a big day out for the whole family to enjoy.

Cllr David Pope, Borough Council Cabinet Member for ICT, Leisure and Public Space, said: “The Robin Hood Musical is a great chance for families to enjoy the open space The Walks has to offer.

“We are always looking to encourage people to use the beautiful surroundings and this seemed a perfect fit to make a memorable family day out. It’s not every day Robin Hood swaps Sherwood Forest for The Walks, so we are looking forward to welcoming all the families down to join in the musical fun.”

On the day there will be an additional workshop from 1pm for children aged between five and ten; this drama workshop offers a fun themed variety of activities, songs and games with the actors, introducing children to the characters from the story.

The show is produced by the Cambridge Touring Theatre and is hosted by the borough council.

Tickets for the event are now on sale at or on 01553 764864. Ticket prices include: Adults £11 and concessions £8; family tickets are from £24 (for a family of three) and £32 (for a family of four).

The workshop is priced at £2.50.
