West Norfolk Mayor's Business Awards 2023: GH Hair Design in King's Lynn wins Customer Care category
Personalised events and yoga classes contributed to a hair salon’s triumph at the 2023 Mayor’s Business Awards.
GH Hair Design, based in Lynn, came out on top in the Customer Care category, fighting off stiff competition from Inheritance Legal Services and Just4You Fitness.
Salon owner Gemma Harvey was delighted to scoop the prize on Friday evening, and paid tribute to her staff for their welcoming nature.
“Customer care is my thing,” she said. “Our business, our team, everything is customer care. It always has been, even through the tough times of business.
“I think a lot of the time we listen to our clients and what our clients need. We adapt our business accordingly.
“When we came back out of the pandemic, they needed space. We created space for them.
“When it was time to re-introduce socialising, we created little events for people. We’ve gradually, over time, increased the number of people so they could come and have an event at a safe environment for them.
“Over time we’ve introduced, little by little, more listening to our clients and what they actually need - not just in hair, but in their life.”
GH Hair Design recently introduced yoga sessions, offering a “safe space” to groups of six.
Gemma added: “It’s somewhere for them to switch off from the world, relax and then when they go back out into the world, they’re refreshed, ready and confident.”
The Customer Care category was sponsored by Upp Broadband, with representative James Ingham saying that “it was brilliant to see” that this serving clients is “a shared value” across the borough.
