Sandringham building for the future
It may be in winter hibernation like much of the rest of the country but work is continuing apace on the new children's play area on the Sandringham Estate.
In happier days when the virus is beaten, it should prove a spectacular day out for children to enjoy.
This winter saw Sandringham hold a spectacular Luminate event around the estate for the first time and now it has been announced that tickets are on sale for the event next Christmas.
Last November and December, Luminate attracted thousands of visitors before the event was stopped prematurely on Christmas Eve when Norfolk was moved into Tier 4 of the Covid restrictions.
That meant customers who had purchased tickets for the post-Christmas lights trail through the estate woods were left disappointed – but they have been told they can receive a refund or transfer the booking to the 2021 dates.
At the time, Team Luminate said: “We have consulted with all of our stakeholders partners and feel that, whilst public gardens and outdoor heritage sites can remain open within Tier 4, it is not in the spirit of what is trying to be achieved throughout the country for Luminate Sandringham to remain open.”
Among the pre-Christmas visitors were the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their family who were photographed inadvertently breaking the rule of six by mixing with fellow Royals at Sandringham.
Prince William and Kate, visiting with their children George, Charlotte and Louis, were seen walking in tandem with Prince Edward and his own family of four.A royal source later said there had been no prior intention for the two families to meet.
Looking ahead, Luminate’s website now has “Early Bird” tickets on sale for dates and times from Friday, November 12, through to Sunday, December 19 th , with entry times from 4.30 to 9pm. Once again there will be entry time slots every 15 minutes.
Ticket prices for Monday to Wednesday dates are £14 for adults (16+), £10 for children (3-15) free for toddlers aged two and under; family tickets (two adults and two children) are £44.
Ticket prices for Thursday to Sunday dates are £16 for adults, £12 for children and free for toddlers; family tickets are £52.
