Sausage Week was celebrated last week by Prior's butchers in West Lynn by hosting a free barbecue for customers.

UK Sausage Week is usually held in the Autumn and celebrates the "great British banger".

Prior's pulled out the stops and held a sizzling event with 40 varieties of sausage on offer.

This included celery and stilton, marmite, black pudding and apple as well as the popular breakfast classics.

Andy Prior, who owns the butcher's said: "It all went well, we must have served about 350 hot dogs.

"Sausage week promotions have been cancelled two years in a row because of Covid so we decided to do our own thing this year instead."

On the grill was 80-year old Ray Suckling, who retired 25 years ago.

During his retirement he decided to work for Prior's and has been a friendly face for the customers for two decades.

Since the lockdown Mr Suckling hasn't worked for Prior's but he came back to the St Peter's Road store for the Sausage Week event to support his colleges.

Mr Prior said: "It was great to see Ray back and the customers were also happy, sadly he won't be working with us after this, but we wish him all the best."

Prior's supports Nelson's Journey, a Norfolk charity supporting bereaved children and was raising money at the barbecue to donate.
