Competition winners at Nelson Academy, Downham, have had their designs featured in a mural.

Their winning designs were all so good that one winner could not be decided, so the new school library featured six of the entrants to be displayed on the wall.

Sarah Wilson, principal said: "Our new whole school library has been decorated with a mural which was the result of a competition run in school looking for design ideas which would give inspiration to readers.

"The entries were so good, the judges couldn’t just pick one. As a result of this, six children’s designs had to be intertwined.

"The finished wall is an amalgamation of their designs.

"In school, the six young artists Callie, Eve, Isla, Leisel, Sophia and Tyler blocked on their pieces.

"The mural was then completed by Gill Sekatawa, art and design technology subject leader, and her family as a thank you for all the years they have had at Nelson Academy.

"The families of the children were invited into school on Thursday, March 24 for a special viewing of the finished mural."
