Gaywood school marks importance of Children In Need day
Go big or go home was the message from Howard Junior school when it came to Children In Need day.
The importance of raising money for those less well off is very important to the staff and children at this school.
With many events planned throughout the day, full of fun, the serious side of raising money for deprived youngsters highlighted the meaning behind the fundraising.
Ash Kirwan, assistant headteacher, said: "Our Children in Need day is a very big deal at the school. We always attempt to raise more than any other school in the area - for our size.
"We welcomed Pudsey to meet all the children, held an assembly with dance competitions, teacher makeovers and messages for the children to understand the importance of why and who we raise money for.
"The children have already been adding coins to a giant Pudsey cut-out on the hall in the foyer.
"We aim to fill this up and we are holding cake sales, face painting and numerous other competitions for children to take part in to ensure it is an unforgettable and incredibly fun, joyous event."
The school beat their previous fundraising totals.
Mr Kirwan said: " We raised a total of £892.64 which is the most we have ever raised."
