Sea of pink at Houghton Hall for Cancer Research UK's Race for Life
Thousands of women ran, jogged and walked around Houghton Hall on Tuesday to raise money for Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life.
More than 1,100 women and girls took part in the 5k course, aiming to raise £60,000 for the worthy cause.
For many, this was an opportunity to complete the course on behalf of someone close to them whose life has been touched by cancer.
Organiser Gemma Turpin said: “Race for Life is such a fantastic event. We are all here for the same reason which is to beat cancer. That is what we are all here to do.
“It doesn’t matter if you’re volunteering, taking part or if you haven’t done one yet, there are still more out there for you to do.
“It is all about coming together to raise money to beat cancer.
“Houghton Hall is a fantastic event, we are so fortunate to have it in our Race for Life portfolio.
“We had 1,120 participants take part and hopefully raised £60,000.
“That is a huge sum of money for our scientists to look into kinder treatments, find cures and just to do their life-saving work into cancer. It is just a fantastic event.”
Staff from Heros Fitness, in Lynn, supported the event by leading a warm up and Charles Dennett of KL.FM hosted the evening.
Ms Turpin added: “We have got a new event coming to the Norfolk area, and this could be your next challenge.
“It is a North Norfolk hike, a 22-mile hike starting at Wells-next-the-Sea and ending at Old Hunstanton on Saturday, September 8.
“I would just like to give a massive thank you to everybody who has come out and supported us in one way or another.”
