Students from Downham Market Academy prepare for Alice in Wonderland production
Students at Downham Academy have been working hard getting ready to put on a magical show which is to start next week.
Since January, staff and pupils have been collaborating to bring to life the children’s book ‘Alice in Wonderland.’
The students have transformed themselves into the Mad Hatter, the Blue Caterpillar, the Cheshire Cat and, of course, Alice herself, in their weekly rehearsals.
Departments have pulled together to make sets, costumes and props ready to take to the stage on July 4 and 6.
Newly appointed head of drama Alice Watts said: “It has been so wonderful to see all of the hard work the students and my colleagues have put in over the past six months to bring this brilliant story to life.
“I must say a very big thank you to the Art and DT (Design and Technology) Departments for their contribution to props, scenery, and costume.
“Being able to see such a complicated and nonsensical story come to life in an original and professional way has been inspiring.
“Our cast is extremely talented, and we cannot wait for you to see the show!”
Performances take place at the academy and tickets are available to purchase on arrival for £7 (adults) and £5 (children).
Refreshments and a raffle will also be provided thanks to the Friends of DMA, the parent-support group for the school.
