Hunstanton section of Norfolk Coast Path to be repaired in bid to prevent it collapsing

A section of a coastal path is set to be closed for repairs in a bid to prevent it from collapsing.

Work on the Norfolk Coast Path is due to begin on January 17, and will last approximately one week.

It will be along the 200m section between Hunstanton and its nearby RNLI lifeboat station.

A Norfolk County Council information notice says: “This closure is to repair the retaining walls around beach huts close to the Norfolk Coast Path to prevent the path collapsing.

“Due to the nature of the works, the path will be closed for public safety.

“The works will stabilise the surface and improve the long-term resilience of the path and will involve replacing the current timber structures which hold up the surface.”

While the section of path is closed, there is no legal diversion available. However, there are routes available along the beach to bypass the works.

The county council has thanked people for their patience while the programme is carried out.

It will cost £2,500 and will be carried out by the county council’s infrastructure department and its contractors.
