Sentencing pushed back for Fakenham men Drew Sayer and Finley Riseborough who admitted carrying out pub attack on pensioner

A duo who previously admitted carrying out a nasty pub attack have had their sentencing pushed back.

Fakenham men Drew Sayer, 22, of Arthur Road, and Finley Riseborough, 23, of Barons Close, were set to be sentenced last Wednesday.

However, for reasons that remain unclear after the Lynn News contacted the courts, their sentencing has been pushed back until December 16.

The pair both admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent following an incident at The Limes pub, a JD Wetherspoon branch in Fakenham, on December 6 last year.

The court heard that the victim, a man in his 70s, was seen in the pub speaking to two women, and both thought the conversation was “not appropriate”.

Sayer approached the man just after 8pm, asking him to leave the women alone.

He refused to do so, and a fight soon broke out.

Sayer pushed the man backwards and punched him, while Riseborough became involved and also punched the victim, who fell to the ground and became unconscious.

He was rushed to Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further assessment and treatment. Doctors discovered he had a bleed on the brain.

It is believed that Riseborough and Sayer’s defence may want to submit a change of plea to not guilty.
