Phoebe the Fakenham celebrity cat is mistakenly taken to vets three times in a week, says owner Toni

A woman has clarified her adventurous cat is not lost after it ended up in the vet three times in one week.

Phoebe, the half-Bengal cat, has become somewhat of a Fakenham celebrity as she regularly wanders around the town, walks into shops and offices, and greets children on the school run.

However, over the last week, Phoebe has wound up at the vets on three separate occasions as people have mistaken her for a lost pet, leaving owner Toni begging residents not to take her.

“Taking her to the vet is not ideal for anyone,” Toni said.

“Last night, she was at the vet until nearly midnight as I don’t drive and have a three-year-old and a seven-month-old baby at home, so couldn’t walk to go and collect her.

“Going to the vet is taking up a kennel spot for injured cats that actually need help.

“Phoebe is healthy and happy and has a loving home, it’s scary for cats to be in the vets and it’s not fair on her that she keeps getting taken when she just wants to enjoy a little walk.”

However, Toni is still encouraging people to say hello to Phoebe if they see her around.

“Phoebe loves the attention and we’re happy to know that as so many people are now getting to know her, people may start allowing her to just have an adventure,” she added.

“My daughter finds it amazing that when Phoebe goes out she’s making other people happy like she does us when she’s home here.”

The venturesome cat has been known to walk near the cinema, Millennium Park, or even into Specsavers, but some of her favourite activities include sitting in the washing machine or having water sprinkled on her head from a watering can.

Toni has set up a Facebook page where people can follow the cat’s adventures and send in photos of where they have seen her.

“She’s always up to mischief, so I decided to make her a page so people could see more of what she gets up to in her daily activities, as even when she’s home she’s always doing something interesting.

“I also did it so more people can get to know her and what she looks like, which may stop her from being taken.”

Phoebe now wears a sparkly pink collar so she is easier to identify.
