Hillington hospice shines a light on its work
Businesses are being urged to support a hospice’s festive appeal to make Christmas special for families - a time which can be difficult for some.
The Norfolk Hospice, Tapping House has its annual Light Up a Life campaign where businesses can show their support by sponsoring a Christmas star.
The campaign has been held during December for more than 25 years, aiming to provide an opportunity for people to pause and reflect, to celebrate families and remember those no longer with us.
Illuminated stars will shine on the front of the hospice’s Wheatfields building in Hillington as a symbol of hope and compassion for all patients, their loved ones and the dedicated staff and volunteers who provide essential care.
The initiative also shines a light on the work of the hospice and support from the business community.
A spokesperson said: “This year, with the financial pressures facing hospices nationwide, funds raised through the campaign are more crucial than ever. Every sponsored star will contribute directly to sustaining the free-of-charge care Tapping House provides to the West Norfolk community.
“By sponsoring a star, businesses can be a beacon of support for families during these challenging times and make sure that we can continue to offer the compassionate, rest-of-life care our patients need and deserve.”
Chloe Martin, ward manager, said: “Working at the hospice during Christmas is a privilege. We decorate our patients’ rooms, organise celebrations and arrange for families to share a Christmas lunch together, creating cherished memories during what can be a very difficult time.
“While it can be a challenging time for our patients, with many wondering if it will be their last Christmas, we strive to make it as special as possible for them and their loved ones.”
In urging businesses to support the campaign, Chloe added: “Light Up a Life is a wonderful way to support Tapping House, you will be showing your support for the families we are caring for this Christmas, be they making precious memories with the time they have together, or remembering a loved one no longer with us.”
Sponsorship includes: * An invitation to the switch-on event on Monday, December 2 where there will be mulled wine, mince pies and music.
* Sponsored stars will have a bespoke gift tag with the company name or logo
*Sponsors will be celebrated on the hospice website and social media reaching more than 11.5K people.
* A photo of the star with a hospice nurse will be provided to share with business clients, customers and followers.
