Shining lights of Christmas catch the eye in West Winch
It really is beginning to look a lot like Christmas with homes lighting up in spectacular fashion to mark the festive season.
Among those catching the eye is one in Hall Lane, West Winch.
The house, according to neighbours, is a “sight to behold” every year, with something new and wonderful to look at every year.
“Cars slow down as they pass it,” said one West Winch resident. “It lights up the street.
“Both the garden and the outside sparkle with hundreds of lights.
“One can only imagine what the inside of the house looks like.”
Also shining a light out across West Norfolk is a Christmas tree-shaped structure on the refurbished Bentinck silo at King’s Lynn Docks.
The 2m high, 1.5m wide ‘tree’ has been installed at the top of the 65m tall silo and has been constructed by the ABP team at the port from sustainably sourced recyclable materials and will be seen from many points in the town and surrounding areas.
This follows ABP’s investment of £400,000 earlier this year to refurbish the silo and enhance storage capacity. After the works, the silo could offer almost 25 per cent of additional storage space to customers.
Kim Kennedy, ABP port manager, said: “This year has been great for the port from a commercial as well as a community engagement perspective.
“We have just finalised the winners of the Stories of the Sea competition in celebration of the 150th anniversary of Alexandra Dock and are currently arranging for the winners to collect their prizes with the first place winner being invited to bury a time capsule on the port estate.
“It’s fantastic to be able to finish the year on such a positive note and help spread a little bit of festive magic by installing a Christmas tree at the very top of our grain silo so that it can be seen even from the far corners of our town, reminding us that we are all part of a vibrant community.”
