West Norfolk shops urged not to sell eggs or flour to potential Halloween pranksters

Shops are being urged to limit the sale of eggs and flour to potential pranksters aiming to cause havoc on Halloween.

Norfolk Police has been offering stores posters which make clear they will not sell the products to anyone aged under 16 until today’s spooky festivities are over.

A West Norfolk Police statement said: “Halloween is just around the corner. While it’s a fun time for many, it can also be unsettling for some - especially older or more vulnerable members of our community - when there’s a steady stream of knocks at the door after dark.

“And just a reminder that throwing eggs at a property isn’t a prank, it’s criminal damage, and anyone caught doing so could face prosecution.

“So we’re asking retailers to be mindful and consider limiting the sale of eggs and flour to those who may be planning to use them.”
