A silent auction will be held later this month to support the campaign to renovate Swaffham’s skate park and create a new multi-use games area.

More than 60 lots have already been donated for the sale, which has been sponsored by Waitrose, and will take place at the Assembly Rooms on Wednesday, November 19, between 7 and 9.30pm.

Organiser Jane Atkins said the auction list already includes jewellery, toys, food hampers, and garden furniture, plus promises of work and even a car journey to Downham for the winning bidder to catch the train.

She said: “Each person will get a bidding number and each item has a bidding sheet by it. You write your bids down and you can watch the bids during the evening. It’s really quite fun.”

Tickets, which are priced £5, are currently on sale at the town hall, the community centre and the Ceres bookshop in London Street.

Anyone who wishes to donate further items for the sale can also take them to the town hall. For more information, phone 01760 721348.
