Rejoice! Sister Act is about to take West Norfolk by a storm of music, drama, friendship, love and human nature at its very best.
KLODS are again on an all-time local first with their latest production, Sister Act, which opens at the King’s Lynn Arts Centre on Wednesday and runs nightly at 7.30pm until Saturday, April 25.
For those who have never seen the famous film, starring Whoopee Goldberg, Sister Act tells the hilarious story of Deloris Van Cartier, a wannabe diva whose life working in a sleazy Nevada casino takes a surprising turn when she witnesses a crime and the cops hide her in the last place anyone would think to look – a convent!
Under the suspicious watch of Mother Superior, Deloris helps her fellow sisters find their voices as she rediscovers her own.
A sparkling tribute to the universal power of friendship, Sister Act is reason to rejoice!
It is the feel-amazing musical comedy which will leave you wanting more from what has been described by theatre critics as “the feel-good show of the year!”
Only the second regional production company to be allowed to gain the performing rights for this ‘West End’ and international new classic, KLODS chairman Margaret Fox declares her pleasure at KLODS, a registered charity, being able to stage the production.
Ms Fox said: “Tickets are going fast for the emotionally charged musical comedy.
“The Art’s Centre provides the ‘monastic’ venue that is ideal for a story centred around a convent, and with KLODS adding the glitz and strong performance values that the society is well known for.”
Produced by the KLODS team and Kerry Shippey, the upbeat musical is directed Kevin Shippey with the vocal coaching provided by Emma Small and musical direction by Liz Pipe.
David Nash, vice chairman of KLODS said: “Whilst the show is a well-known film, the stage show is also a fun romantic comedy that will leave you singing and smiling after a memorable evening of musical theatre at its best.”
Expect sassy songs, mixing soul, disco, funk, and Motown, and a storyline to inspire. Join us for an unmissable theatrical treat.
KLODS appreciates the support of its sponsors, Hayes and Storr, the Lynn News and loyal advertisers who have helped with funding, marketing and promoting local theatre at its best.
Sister Act is the feel-amazing musical comedy smash show that the New York Post called “ridiculously fun” and audiences were jumping to their feet in total agreement.
It features original music by Alan Menken (Newsies, Beauty and the Beast, Little Shop of Horrors).
