Snail race to help Downham Market cat centre

An animal adoption centre is set to hold a charity racing night with a twist next month when it hosts an evening of snail racing.

The Cats Protection Downham Market Adoption Centre will hold the event at Watlington Village Hall on Saturday, September 8, which promises a fun-filled evening.

The event will raise funds for the charity and support the centre’s work, which in turn will be helping local cats and kittens.

Although the snails will not be real – with cartoon incarnations of the creatures battling it out over eight races – the excitement will be genuine, with a chance for guests to name and sponsor their own racing snails.

Doors open at 6.45pm with ‘slime time’ beginning at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £5 each, which includes a hot buffet.

For more information, or to book in advance, contact Becky at the centre on 01366 382311 or downham@cats.org.uk.
