King's Lynn sobriety coach meets Carol Vorderman on ITV's Lorraine




A successful author and sobriety coach who lived and studied in Lynn has appeared on ITV's Lorraine.

The opportunity arose for Veronica Valli when a producer on the show, who is sober-curious, asked her to appear in person rather than as a Zoom interview.

As Veronica was in the UK for a few days she appeared on the show on Tuesday, July 12.

As Lorraine had Covid-19, Veronica was interviewed by Carol Vorderman of Countdown fame, to convery her message about liver a sober life, pertaining to her new book Soberful: Uncover a Sustainable, Fulfilling Life Free of Alcohol.

Veronica said: "It was great that they were open to the message of not just cutting down on alcohol, but that sobriety is so much better than we think.

"Carol told me her son doesn't drink and is noticing how much more popular it is now amongst the younger generation.

"She mentioned how hard it is to be hungover getting older.

Veroncia now lives in Lake Tahoe, Nevada with her family and speaks openly about her past using alcohol and drugs.

Now that she has been sober for some 22 years, her message is about living a life of sobriety rather than just cutting down and trying to manage drink or drugs.

She said: "Everything we think we know about alcohol is wrong.

"It is never worth it, there will always be a cost.

"Hanxiety (hangover plus anxiety) is never worth it, it never reflects how good the night was.

"You can have better nights out than you can drinking (alcohol).

"People are putting up with it and 'enjoying' a two and a half hour night out and being hungover for three days, tell me if that is really worth it?"

Veronica is heading back to Lake Tahoe today and is currently at Heathrow airport on one of the hottest days in the UK.

She said: "I am doing some deep breathing before the crowds turn up and I am so pleased that the positive message of sobriety is being amplified. "
