An influential website of Tory supporters has put South West Norfolk MP Liz Truss in pole position as the possible successor to Boris Johnson at Prime Minister.

The survey on Conservative Home found 23 per cent of its readers' panel put Foreign Secretary Ms Truss as their favourite to be the next party leader, 2.5 per cent ahead of Chancellor Rishi Sunak.

When the survey was last carried out in August, Mr Sunak led Ms Truss by 12 points.
