Marleys in South Wootton sets up new service delivering afternoon teas
A popular café in South Wootton forced to close due to the coronavirus crisis has set up a new service delivering afternoon teas.
Marleys, of Langley Road, founded just over a year ago by Julie Coe, is now offering customers the option of having home-made food delivered to the doorstep. Delivery is free within a five-mile radius of her business.
Julie told the Lynn News: "It began when everything went on lockdown and we had to cancel Mother's Day bookings. I gave people the choice of having the food delivered and we had a great response with 90 per cent of them opting to take up the idea.
"It's gone on from there and I am now doing teas to mark special occasions, such as birthdays and anniversaries. There has been a steady stream of inquiries and the response has been very encouraging with people saying how much they like the food."
A typical afternoon tea includes a selection of sandwiches, oat crackers, two scones with jam and cream, two slices of cake, strawberry and cream meringue, a brownie and a macaroon. There is a gluten free option too. Both cost £15.95 and a child's tea is £6.95.
"People can also add an item as a special request, such as a bottle of prosecco," said Julie, who needs 24 hours' notice.
Orders can be made by calling 07904508444 or via Facebook and Instagram. People can pay over the phone, via PayPal, cash on delivery or call at Marleys between 11am and 12.30pm.
