Norfolk’s self-proclaimed Fat Bloke on a Moped Dave Fletcher has completed his latest charity challenge by circumnavigating Norfolk on his moped.
Mr Fletcher, from Southery, finished his latest venture with his wife Claire on the back on his bike, while friends attempted to replicate the distance travelled on two exercise bikes in the Old White Bell in the village.
His continued fundraising drive is inspired by his wife, who had a double mastectomy back in 2010, after a routine check-up revealed pre-cancerous cells.
Mr Fletcher left Southery to pick up the Norfolk coastline at Yarmouth before following the coast back to Lynn and returning to the Old White Bell.
In total, he covered 181 miles over seven gruelling hours.
Mr Fletcher said: “While I was completing the route, people in the pub were trying to complete the same distance as me using two excercise bikes.
“I was quietly confident that I would manage to do more miles and when I returned home they were eight miles short of the distance I covered.”
To help women come to terms with their ordeal a charity called Keeping Abreast was formed in 2007 by two patients and a reconstruction nurse, with Claire now the chair of the West Norfolk branch.
Prior to Saturday, Mr Fletcher has already raised thousands of pounds, and has become a local celebrity in his home village of Southery, near Downham.
The grand total raised so far stands at almost £9, 700.
