Spring market day brings visitors to Walpole St Peter church
Anyone looking for a pre-Easter bargain would have had plenty to tempt them at a West Norfolk parish church this week.
Traders and visitors flocked to a spring market held at the parish church in Walpole St Peter on Saturday.
The event was the first of four markets due to be held there this year.
Gilli Galloway, one of the organisers, said the event acted as both a fundraiser for the church, which is the largest parish church in England, and a social event for the village.
She said: “We want people to come in and use the building.
“It’s so easy these days for people to feel quite isolated and we’re trying to put things on that bring the village together.
“There are people that come every time, not necessarily to buy anything, but for the social side.”
Goods ranging from cards and bags to preserves were on sale during the event, while refreshments were also on offer during the morning.
