International coffee chain Starbucks is hoping to open a store in Lynn.
Plans have been submitted to turn the former Dorothy Perkins site, in the High Street.
An application was lodged with West NorfolkCouncil by 23.5 Degrees, a Southampton based firm which is a franchise of Starbucks.
The application’s design and access statement says coffee shops are helping to rejuvenate town centres across the country by helping to draw people into High Streets.
It states:“The introduction of such a branded coffee shop as Starbucks as proposed under this application, will in fact generate an improvement to the vitality and viability of the High Street.
“Figures published in 2014 in a report by industry analysts, Allegra Strategies, show that British high streets are enjoying significant economic and social benefits brought by the rise of branded and independent coffee shops.”
Toilets, baby changing facilites and an internal refit are included in the plans.
The shop front will be renovated and advertisement signs are also included.
Lynn town centre already has two Coasta Coffee stores along with independent traders such as the Filling Station and Moley’s in Norfolk Street.
