Stork in the wild at Leziate

They are probably best known in popular myth as being responsible for the delivery of new-borns.

But storks are a rare sight in this country outside of captivity.

However, one has turned up in West Norfolk, being photographed at Leziate.

The photographer was keen local amateur wildlife photographer Julie Smart, from Grimston.

She sent the Lynn News these pictures and said: "This is a rare white stork wandering about in the field at Leziate, normally only seen in capivity.

"This wild one comes from Europe, possibly Holland. Not many of these wild ones are seen in this area."
