Norfolk Police ease fears over potential ‘burglar’s notebook’ in Swaffham

Residents’ fears over a potential “burglar’s notebook” have been eased after police investigations found its owner is unlikely to have any malicious intentions.

A member of the public in Swaffham contacted officers after finding the pad outside their home address, worrying because it featured details about a number of properties in the town.

On social media, many urged them to alert police because it could potentially have been dropped by a burglar-in-waiting, carrying out investigations on future targets.

However, Norfolk Police has now confirmed that the content appears to relate to “several properties and notes about those properties” such as a list of repairs and noise complaints.

A police spokesperson said the information on the notepad all appears to have been gathered following official conversations with the people living at the addresses.

“The local beat manager is carrying out enquiries to find the notebook’s owner,” they added.
