Hundreds have come together to celebrate the opening of a new Sure Start Children’s Centre in Lynn this week.
Families enjoyed Easter fun at the new premises on Walpole Road in the North Lynn area on Wednesday.
The Easter extravaganza allowed visitors to get stuck in with arts and crafts and messy play, as well as a chance to meet the Easter bunny who put in a special appearance to lead the egg hunt.
Centre manager Valerie Heath said: “It was wonderful to see so many families who came to celebrate with us. Everyone had lots of fun!
“There was a real street party feel, and it was great to celebrate the opening of the new building, which will enable us to support lots of local families in the future.”
The event marked the opening of a new venue for the North Lynn, Gaywood North Bank and the Woottons Children’s Centre as, for the past five years, the service has been operating out of local community buildings.
The service, run by Norfolk Community Health and Care NHS Trust (NCH&C), will continue to use these community buildings too.
The Children’s Centre offers services to families with children under eight years of age, and is home to a diverse team of support workers and therapists who offer a range of activities.
From child health clinics and breastfeeding support, to baby massage, baby group and stay and play, there is an array of opportunities available to parents and guardians.
The children’s centre aims to work alongside families, communities and other organisations to support children and help them achieve their potential.
The services are available to everyone, but are in particular for families at times when “life is a bit of a struggle”.
