Student from King's Lynn faces tough charity challenge

A university student from Lynn is taking on Tough Mudder to raise money and awareness of a mental health charity.

Fiona Chaddock, who is a second year student at Nottingham Trent University, is challenging herself to Tough Mudder Half, which is a five-mile, 13 obstacle course, on Sunday.

With an aim to raise money and awareness of Mind, a charity which works with anyone experiencing a mental health problem, Fiona says she is delighted to have already raised £1,000.

She said: "I lost my friend to suicide at the start of my second year at university. I wanted to challenge myself to raise awareness of mental health issues while raising money for Mind.

"I started going to the gym twice a week, and now I go five or six times a week. Going to the gym has helped me to deal with my grief. It has been a great way to deal with my emotions."

Fiona said she is "scared but very excited" about her upcoming challenge and is amazed by how much money she has already managed to raise for the worthy cause.

"My friends and family have been donating as well as my friends family members. I have raised £1,000 so far, which is absolutely amazing," said Fiona.
