Student helping to eradicate homelessness in West Norfolk
A student from Hills Road Sixth Form College is supporting a West Norfolk charity’s aim to eradicate homelessness in the region by raising money on their behalf.
Samantha Brain donated £232 to The Purfleet Trust after collecting the funds from a successful bake sale at her college.
Samantha says she was drawn to the charity after reading about their aims and objectives, especially their aim to eradicate homelessness in West Norfolk.
She said: “I held a bake sale at my college as part of my extended project. I knew I wanted to raise money to help the homeless and so I started researching charities in the area.
“I found The Purfleet Trust and I was inspired by their aim to eradicate homelessness in West Norfolk.
“I also wanted to help homelessness in this area, helping local people.”
As well as aiming to eradicate homelessness in the region, The Purfleet Trust works to provide relief for people who are homeless, or whose lifestyle puts them at risk of homelessness.
They aim to support and empower those in need to make positive lifestyle choices by enhancing their health and wellbeing and encouraging them to live independently in suitable accommodation.
Samantha added: “I would like to do some more fundraising in the future, but for now I am focusing on my A-Levels. However, I may do something similar next year.
“The people at The Purfleet Trust were extremely thankful for the donation.”
