Downham Market Academy holds summer ball for Athena Sixth Form College students to celebrate end of year 13
It was an evening to remember for sixth form students in Downham on Friday as they were invited to a summer ball.
Downham Academy celebrated its year 13’s achievements at the event, which was also the first held since the Athena Sixth Form College moved from the Ryston site to the Bexwell one last year.
Helen Daw, senior study centre manager, said: “All students had a great time, obviously with this being our first event since the move, along with the breaks due to the lockdowns, the event really added to student morale.”
Last year’s move had meant that all events from 2022 were put on hold, with Friday’s event being the first in a calendar year.
The summer ball featured live music in the academy’s hall, from 7pm until 10pm, with students dressing up especially for the night.
There will be a second event for younger students when the Year 11 prom is held on Friday, June 30, which is expected to be even bigger than the previous week.
