Successful West Norfolk Help Hub networking event held in King’s Lynn

Around 200 people met today for a West Norfolk Help Hub networking event.

In a larger venue at Lynnsport after the success of last year’s event, representatives from more than 60 public and voluntary sector partners met to learn more about the Help Hub and its holistic approach.

The hub is aimed at professional, looking to help organisations work together to achieve better outcomes for people who need support.

West Norfolk Council’s cabinet member for people and communities, Cllr Jo Rust, said: “I’m bowled over by the number of people and organisations represented here today.

“It’s testament to the fact that we get the best results when we work together.

“The Help Hub takes a holistic approach to supporting people’s needs and in doing so has achieved some fantastic results for people it has helped.”

The Help Hub works by looking beyond the issues that may have brought a person into contact with an organisation. For example, a debt problem may actually be linked to a physical or mental health need, or caring responsibility.

“By bringing relevant organisations together to look at the root causes of the problem and tackling these, better results can be achieved for the person who needs support and all the agencies involved – as the results tend to have more lasting effects,” a borough council spokesperson said.

At the networking event, professionals working in a range of settings were able to meet colleagues from partner organisations, find out more about what they do, and build connections that can give them new avenues to explore for helping people in future.

This is the third time the event has been held - as a result of its success, organisers are now considering whether it should become an annual event.

Some of the groups involved in the Help Hub include Norfolk County Council’s adult social care, children's services and youth offending teams.

Norfolk Police and the Change, Grow, Live charity also play a role, among several others.
