Outwell slimmers lose 160 stones in past year and gain health benefits

By Lynn News Reporter

Super slimmers who meet in Outwell have together lost an amazing 160 stone during the past year.

But not only have they dropped their clothes' sizes, they have also experienced significant health benefits, including in some cases the reversal of type 2 diabetes plus less pressure on joints and easier breathing.

Now an extra group is being set up in the village to help even more people achieve their weight-loss goals.

The Slimming World group is run by consultant Jo Johnson Andow, who lives at Stradsett, who first became a member in August 2015 and hit her target the same year. The following year she became a consultant and took over the Outwell group a year ago.

She said: “I’m so proud of my members and their success. Unfortunately there is still an obesity problem in the area and we want to help as many people as possible.

“Having lost two stone myself I know there are challenges with losing weight, but I also know the results are worth the effort. I am there every step of the way supporting every member.”

Among group members who have successfully lost weight is Sharon Craig, who has just achieved her five stone award in 25 weeks and reversed her pre-diabetes diagnosis.

Other achievers include members Sandi Turner, who lost four stones and dropped five dress sizes, and Mike Collinson, who lost more than three stones and has been able to stop taking all medication for diabetes.

They are all members of the group which meets at Outwell Village Hall on Thursdays at 9.30am. Now Jo is setting up a new group to help more people on their weight loss journey. This will also be held on Thursdays at the hall, but starting at 5.30pm, with the first session kicking off on January 17.
