Surfer rescued after Hunstanton lifeboat alert
A surfer has been helped to safety after being reported to be in difficulty off the West Norfolk coast.
Lifeboat officials have praised a member of the public who reported the incident off Hunstanton on Monday.
Units were sent to the South Beach area shortly after 4.30pm after a passer-by alerted Coastguard crews to a foil surfer who had been struggling with his craft.
Members of the town's Lifeboat crew assisted the surfer, who is said to be a local man, back to shore where he was left in the care of the Coastguard. He did not need any medical attention.
A Lifeboat spokesman said yesterday: "Thanks to the member of the public who did the right thing.
"If you see someone you think is in trouble call the Coastguard, who will call us."
