Surgery offer open, says West Norfolk Council leader
Council chiefs are expecting a response “very shortly” on their offer to provide funding for a new doctors’ surgery on Lynn’s Fairstead estate.
Talks have been taking place between West Norfolk Council, the borough’s clinical commissioning group (CCG) and the surgery’s operator, Vida Healthcare, for several months over replacing the existing building.
Health officials say it is no longer able to adapt to modern NHS services but efforts to secure funding for a new building have so far failed.
Updating members at a meeting last Thursday, West Norfolk Council leader Brian Long said he had “reiterated” the authority’s offer of a capital investment in a new surgery.
He added: “I am expecting a joint response from the CCG and Vida Healthcare very shortly. I hope there is a way Fairstead can have a new improved surgery.”
John Webster, the CCG’s accountable officer, said yesterday: “We are working closely with both Vida Healthcare and the borough council to explore the future healthcare options for the people of Fairstead.
“We are committed to ensuring local residents have access to the right services to meet their needs.”
