A new community group which aims to tackle social isolation held its first meeting in Swaffham this week.

The town’s CACELS (Coffee and Cake Enjoying Life Supportively) group intends to help support people of working age who are unable to work because of either disability or other health problems.

The group met for the first time at the Green Britain Centre on Monday and is now due to meet on the first Monday of each month, except for January.

Organiser Gemma Liczbinski, left, is pictured above with, from left, Paul Woodmin, the head of the Green Britain Centre, Kevin Stone, the venue’s head of catering, Rosie Woolgar and Lynne Armitage of the Older Persons Forum.

Similar groups will be launched at the North Lynn Community Cafe on Tuesday, November 24, and at the Downham Home and Garden Store on Monday, November 30.

Both sessions will be on from 2pm to 3.30pm.
