Supporters of a Swaffham church are tuning up to sing hundreds of hymns over the next few weeks to help fund renovations and repairs.

Worshippers at the town’s Methodist Church are preparing to take part in a Hymnathon to raise funds for its ongoing Pinnacle Appeal.

The campaign, which began two years ago, aims to raise around £160,000 for a new roof and internal refurbishments of the London Street building.

The challenge will begin on Ash Wednesday, February 10, and will see supporters singing all 748 hymns from the church’s Singing the Faith hymnbook during daily services to be held from then until Palm Sunday on March 20.

Supporters can choose th hymn they want to sponsor by visiting www.swaffhammethodistchurch.org.

Donations can also be made by visiting https://mydonate.bt.com/events/swaffhamhymnathon/251592 or sending a cheque to treasurer Muriel Bean at 50 Mill Farm Nurseries, Swaffham, PE37 7PJ.

Ahead of the challenge, the church will also be hosting a soup and pancakes lunch on Shrove Tuesday, February 9, between 11.30am and 1pm.
