Five would-be candidates expressed interest in joining Swaffham’s town council at an event organised by the authority, its current members have heard.
Ahead of May’s elections, the town council is inviting people who may be interested in standing as a candidate to find out more about the demands of the role.
Last Wednesday’s town council meeting was told that five people had attended a session at the town hall earlier this month, while eight current members had also taken part.
Clerk Richard Bishop said: “We were quite pleased with the response.”
The meeting also heard that a guide which explains how people can put themselves forward as candidates has been made available from the town council’s offices.
Residents are also being urged to check and make sure they are registered to vote in the elections.
