Swaffham’s Lions club has given its backing to the Norfolk Lowland Rescue service following a talk from one of its volunteers.

Paul Webber, pictured above right, received a £100 donation from club president Colin Mowles following a recent meeting.

The service costs around £1,000 a month to run, but receives no government funding.

It has 40 volunteers and is regularly called in to search for missing people with dementia across the county.

Members are trained in first aid and crime scene control and work closely with police and other emergency services.

The group has also received a grant to fund the purchase of a new inflatable craft and trailer, which will be based in Wroxham.
