Planned celebrations to mark 800 years of Swaffham’s market have been boosted by the support of a town charity group.
Proceeds from the Swaffham Lions’ annual St George’s Day quiz, held last month, will go towards the costs of staging the festivities in July.
And a total of £620 has now been handed over to the event organisers.
David Wickerson, chairman of the Town Team which is leading planning of the events on July 18 and 19, thanked the Lions for their support.
Club members will also be manning a lost child service during the celebration weekend.
However, officials are still awaiting final confirmation of whether their bid for Heritage Lottery Fund support has been successful.
