A Swaffham supermarket’s efforts to help feed those in need in the area has been boosted by the support of a town community group.

Staff at the Tesco store in Brocks Road held a collection last weekend for the area’s Foodbank as part of a nationwide campaign by the chain.

And members of the Swaffham Lions club helped to man the collection stall throughout the three-day charity effort.

Shoppers were asked to donate items from a guide list, which the store itself will then supplement by donating 20 per cent of the monetary value of the goods collected.

Tesco’s two charity partners, the Trussell Trust and FareShare, support a wide range of people in the UK who find themselves in desperate need of support.

The Swaffham area is covered by the Mid-Norfolk Foodbank, which has a distribution centre at the town’s Baptist Church.
