A Swaffham man has been given a criminal behaviour order (CBO) by magistrates for what police described as his “persistent” anti-social behaviour.

James Hudson, 21, of Highfield Avenue, was ordered to pay £50 in compensation after pleading guilty to a public order offence, committed on February 25 this year, during a hearing in Lynn today.

He was then given a two-year criminal behaviour order requiring him not to contact, either directly or indirectly, any staff member or resident of Stanfield House in Lynn Road, Swaffham or to attend the premises.

The order also requires him to sign a Good Neighbour contract with housing provider Orbit Housing.

Breaches of a CBO can be punished by up to five years in prison or an unlimited fine.

Inspector Jon Papworth, of Norfolk Police, said after the hearing: “Keeping our communities safe in Breckland is of paramount importance to us. The magistrates agreeing to issue this CBO will help us to ensure others are not affected by Hudson’s behaviour.”

Swaffham area beat manager PC Paula Gilluley added: “I am very pleased with this court result which reinforces the message that ASB in the community will not be tolerated.”
