Swaffham Town Council are looking to give the next generation of market traders a step onto the ladder.

Swaffham is very proud to be known as ‘Norfolk’s Market Town’ and of it’s thriving Saturday Market.

The Town Council are offering young traders the chance to come and join the market, free of charge for 3 months.

Fabian Eagle, Chair of the Market Committee said: “Covid has obviously had a massive impact on the community but now that we are opening up again we would like to support enthusiastic and entrepreneurial young people to give trading on the market a go.

"There will be advice and support available from the Swaffham Market team, we are really keen to give these new businesses the chance to make a go of it.

"We would like to see new products or services on the market, the new businesses must fit in with our ‘market mix’ policy which, generally, means that there can only be 2 stalls offering the same goods or services.”

Applicants for the new scheme must be between 18 and 25 years of age and the closing date for entries is June 30 of this year.

The three winners will have a free pitch on Swaffham Saturday Market for three months including a gazebo, eight foot table, chair and a grant of £50 to help with set up costs.

Entry forms are available from Swaffham Town Council or can be collected from the Market Superintendent.
