West Norfolk teams preparing for opening day fixtures in Norfolk’s premier cricket league have been boosted by news that Swaffham’s independent family opticians Dipple & Conway has pledged a second year of sponsorship.
The campaign begins on May 2 with reigning Premier Division champions Downham Town visiting Swardeston A, runners-up Fakenham travelling to Brooke and newly-promoted Stow travelling to Ashmanhaugh and Barton Wanderers. In Division One North Runcton play host to Topcroft.
In Division Three Swaffham are visited by Brooke A, North Runcton A travel to Sprowston A and Downham A are at home to Vauxhall Mallards A.
In Division Four Stow A welcome Old Catton, Dersingham visit Mundford and Narborough are at home to Winterton. In Division Six Bircham have a home game against Dereham A.
Having stepped in last season to back the Alliance, Dipple & Conway’s decision to continue the partnership has delighted the league management committee.
“We had been without a sponsor for the previous two years, so it was a massive morale boost to have a long-standing family business with strong community roots come on board,” said Peter Thomas, chairman of Dipple & Conway Opticians Norfolk Cricket Alliance.
“And it is a huge shot in the arm that the Conway brothers, James, Damian and Robert, have agreed to support us for another year.
Speaking on behalf of the three Conway brothers who co-own the business started by their grandfather 99 years ago, James Conway said: “We introduced a Player of the Month award, along with designer sunglasses as prizes.
“That gave Dipple & Conway an opportunity to give richly-deserved attention to some phenomenal personal performances. We will be proud to continue that incentive during the 2015 season.”
Mr Conway said he and his brothers have practices in Swaffham, Norwich and Diss.
