A beauty salon boss is preparing to swap the stage of Swaffham for the roads of London as she aims to raise vital funds for a cancer charity.
Zoe Birt is currently supporting the cast of the Theatre of Stanley’s House (TOSH) in final rehearsals for their production of Aladdin, which will be staged next week.
But, after that, it will be Zoe who takes the starring role when she takes on the London Marathon course in April, in aid of Children with Cancer UK.
Zoe, who works in the town and lives in Castle Acre, is aiming to raise £2,000 for the charity, which funds care for young patients, welfare support for families and research into the disease.
The charity was formed almost 30 years by Eddie and Marion O’Gorman, with the support of the late Princess of Wales, after their own children, Paul and Jean, both died from leukaemia within months of each other.
Zoe said: “Reading about its background and how it all began breaks my heart. I’m so proud to be able to raise money for this charity.”
As well as setting up an online donations page, Zoe is also appealing for local businesses to support her with initiatives such as raffle prizes or collection tins on their premises.
