Swaffham Town’s bid to lift the Thurlow Nunn First Division trophy suffered an unexpected blow on Easter Monday, as Great Yarmouth Town with a penalty after 44 minutes turned up the heat on their own promotion push in a 1-0 win.
In the Premier Division, Fakenham Town secured a deserved point from their meeting with runaway league leaders Norwich United, although they were forced to weather an early storm which saw keeper Tommy Rix produce two excellent saves to keep out efforts from Matthew Daniels and Ben Thompson. In the second half the Ghosts dug in deep and showed great character leaving joint manager Neil Jarvis delighted with a point. In the Anglian Combination Premier Division, Dersingham Rovers took none from a possible six points over the bank holiday weekend. Rob Back’s side were beaten 1-0 at home by second place Blofield United on Saturday, before Mattishall left The Pastures with all three points on Easter Monday after securing a 2-1 victory over Rovers.
