In his weekly Memory Lane Schooldays feature, Chris Hornby pays a visit to a primary school in 2010.
Children from Ten Mile Bank Primary School launched their own rockets to mark National Science and Engineering Week in March 2010.
Our picture shows 11-year-old Jes Drewery with her rocket, joined by scientist Ray Mathias who visited the school to help the pupils make their own paper rockets – with other children and headteacher John Ward.
Later on, the rockets were launched in the school field to varying degrees of success. In the afternoon the pupils discussed why their models were a success or not, as well as learning different information about space and planets.
