May 2012: The onslaught of high street chains, supermarkets and then the internet put paid to the majority of record shops throughout the country. But in Lynn, the Record Shop in St James Street, run by Tony Winfield, was still going strong – and it was like a candy store for musical vinyl lovers.

May 2012: Here are the winners and highly commended in the Mayor’s Design Awards in the Environment, pictured at Lynn Town Hall with the Mayor, Colin Sampson. The new pumping station at St Germans, opened in 2011, won the top prize.

May 2012: Staff at Lynn’s Sainsbury’s store donned reds and whites to celebrate St George’s Day, raising £100 in the process. The cheque was presented, appropriately enough to St George’s School, Dersingham, to be spent on new books. May 2012: It was Bucks Fizz all round as staff at the Duke’s Head Hotel in Lynn celebrated after gaining an AA four-star rating and the opening of the final phase of refurbishment at the hotel. May 2014: Lynn’s Smiles Better dental practice, in Norfolk Street, broke new ground when recording two “firsts” in its eight-year-history. It had just been joined by its first male, dentist, Dr Luke Smith, and at the same time trainee dental nurse Jo Manning became its first apprentice to work there while undergoing training.

May 2014: Downham traders were reporting a boost in trade after parking charges were introduced at the Wales Court car park. Previously it had been a free car park and shoppers found it almost impossible to find a parking space.

May 2018: Macmillan Cancer Support had its funds boosted when staff at the White Horse pub in Brancaster Staithe – and its sister business The Jolly Sailors – handed over a cheque for more than £5,000 following a record-breaking year of fundraising. May 2018: North West Norfolk MP, Sir Henry Bellingham, opened the new office of a construction industry training provider at the King’s Lynn Innovation Centre. Sheffield-based NOCN had bought the Cskills organisation from the CITB. Also in attendance was the Borough Mayor Carol Bower.
