Talk about a bank holiday ... all the cash points in Downham Market pack up

Well, it is a bank holiday, but customers usually can expect to find ATMs to top up their ready cash.

But not apparently in Downham today where all the cash points around town were reported to be out of action.

It was not only the ATMs. Subway on the town square was operating on a cash-only basis.

Many residents have attempted to withdraw cash, and have had to rely on shops for cashback.

UK Power networks have said there is no report of supply problems so the reason for the issue is unclear at this time.

Downham, in common with many smaller towns around the county, has a dwindling supply of cash points, leaving locals frustrated at time.

HSBC bank and Barclays have closed their doors in recent years, leaving little options for money management and cash withdrawal if needed.
