A former head boy turned teacher has retired after 41 years at what is now the King Edward VII Academy in Lynn.

Steve Collison, who was head boy at the school, then the King Edward VII Grammar School for Boys, in 1970, returned to the school four years later.

The majority of his teaching career was spent in the maths and geography departments but there were also spells with PE, and briefly with English and Business Studies.

Since 2007, he has served as the school’s careers advisor. Away from the classroom, he became a qualified referee and officiated for many school matches and also league football.
