Downham teacher supported by education programme given £125k Postcode Lottery funding
A West Norfolk school leader says she has been inspired by a professional leadership programme supported by the People's Postcode Lottery.
The science Subject Leadership Programme run by the PTI, formerly the Prince's Teaching Institute, was given £125,000 through the scheme.
And one of the teachers who has taken part in the programme is Rose Cornelius, the assistant head of the Downham Market Academy and the head of its science department.
She attended the programme's leadership conference on Friday and said: “The PTI has been inspirational for me in its ethos of collaboration and always striving for improvement.
“The professional connections I have made and time spent in subject leadership meetings during my time working with the PTI have been invaluable with the knock-on benefits to my own colleagues and students in my academy being vital.
“Working through the last eighteen months of a pandemic has been made more engaging and uplifting through the collaboration events the PTI has offered.”
The programme aims to offer an ongoing professional development resource to help schools to raise aspiration and student enjoyment.
